Hard Chrome Bar

Malabou supply ready to use Hard Chrome Bar Components to OEM’s and Industrial clients. Bar components supplied ready for use including any required welding or machining. Supplied in protective cardboard tubes. Sizes both metric and Imperial, and non-standard diameters.

Hard chrome bar is a chromium-plated steel product used primarily as piston rod material in all standard applications in hydraulics and pneumatics.

Material Options.

Base Material Bar made to AS1444 and AS1443 or equivalent.

Chrome Plated Bar AISI 1045

AISI 1045 Medium Carbon Steel, with a typical tensile strength range of 600 to 800MPa, and a hard chrome plated surface of over 900HV, offering medium strength, excellent wear and corrosion resistance)

Chrome Plated Bar AISI 1045 – Induction Hardened

AISI medium carbon steel with a UTS of 600 to 800MPa and an induction hardened case of 55-60 HRC, plus a hard chrome plated surface of over 900HV, giving excellent wear corrosion resistance)

Chrome Plated Bar AISI 4140 – Hardened and Tempered

AISI 4140 high tensile steel hardened and tempered with a UTS of 800 to 1200 MPa, and a hard chrome plated surface of over 900HV, giving excellent high tensile strength, excellent wear corrosion resistance.

Chrome Plated Bar AISI 4140 – Hardened and Tempered and Induction Hardened

AISI 4140 high tensile steel hardened and tempered with a UTS of 800 to 1200 MPa and an induction hardened case of HRC55 +/- 2, plus a hard chrome plated surface of over 900HV, giving excellent high tensile strength, excellent wear corrosion resistance.

Roughness:0.10 – to 0.30 Ra microns
Hardness:HV900-1100 (HRC 65-69)
Thickness:15-30 microns

Typical Case Hardness and Depth (induction hardened options)

Hardness:AISI 1045: HRC 55-60
AISI 4140: HRC 53-57

Depth:
Ø 10 to 40mm , 1.00 to 2.00mm
Ø 40 to 80mm , 1.25 to 2.50mm
Ø 80 to 125mm , 2.00 to 3.00mm

Typical Dimensional Tolerance:
Diameter to ISO f7
Straightness 0.2mm / 1000mm

Typical Applications include; Agricultural Equipment, Hydraulic Cylinders, Hoists, Jacks and other Lifting equipment, Machine Tools, Mining and Earth Moving Equipment, Pumps, Valves, Waste Disposal Transport and Equipment etc.
