Client Representation in Accredited Testing
For many OEMs, the challenge with advanced materials characterisation isn’t defining what needs to be tested — it’s accessing the right accredited capability, at the right time, without fragmenting responsibility.
This week, I’ve been on the ground in India representing an international client during SEM and EDX testing at one of The Malabou’s ISO/IEC 17025–accredited laboratory partners, representing an international client during Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy (EDX) testing.
At The Malabou – Testing & Services, we act as the client’s technical presence when engaging accredited laboratories and state-of-the-art analytical equipment across global testing networks.
Accredited laboratories conduct all testing and reporting within their own ISO/IEC 17025 quality systems. The Malabou’s role is to provide technical representation, coordination, and clarity at the interface between client and laboratory.
A key differentiator is our direct access to, and established relationships with, a diverse network of ISO/IEC 17025–accredited testing laboratories. This breadth of capability—including advanced microscopy and specialist analytical methods—is not readily available within Australia and New Zealand alone.
Through this network, OEMs are able to:
Access a broader range of accredited test methods and specialist equipment
Engage laboratories with proven capability for specific materials and applications
Reduce lead times by streamlining laboratory selection and engagement
Maintain confidence in traceability, compliance, and international recognition
Being physically present and working alongside our laboratory partners allows us to:
Confirm test scope, standards, and technical intent are clearly aligned
Support effective communication between client engineers and laboratory teams
Observe sample preparation and test execution against agreed methodologies
Provide continuity from test planning through to final reporting
For OEMs across Australia and New Zealand, this model simplifies access to advanced testing capability while preserving laboratory independence. Clients gain a single technical interface, supported by a global network of accredited laboratories.
It is also encouraging to see continued investment across the Indian testing sector in advanced analytical equipment, quality systems, and skilled technical personnel. Combined with The Malabou’s on-the-ground engineering representation, this supports reliable materials characterisation, failure analysis, and verification testing for global supply chains.
If your organisation requires a trusted technical representative when accessing accredited testing capability beyond what is locally available, I’m always open to a technical discussion.
